The work began today on 103km highway Vërmicë-Merdare that will cost more than 700 million euro. State leaders of Kosovo and Albania, appreciated the historic importance of the road project who is named “the nation’s road”... .

The road, connects Kosovo to Albania, but also to Europe and will be in service of economic development and integration. This evaluation was the common denominator of the state speeches of leaders of Kosovo and Albania, at the ceremony of starting work on the highway Vërmicë-Merdare. Kosovo Government, is implementing the project of major importance and is opening a new chapter in the economic development of Kosovo.
Highway Vërmicë - Merdare is a continuation of Durres Kukës highway. Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who stood in Vërmicë, especially for the ceremony, stressed that the project demonstrates the strength of the Albanians to build their deserved European future. According to him, the corridor is connecting the nation's major project for peace, stability and regional cooperation.

PRISTINA, Kosovo (AP) - Kosovo's government shut down a Serbian cell phone network inside Kosovo on Friday, calling it "unlicensed and illegal."
Kosovo's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said its workers acted under the protection of Kosovo police because the provider, Serbia's Telekom, is not registered with Kosovo authorities and "will not be tolerated."...

Despite the protests of Serbian authorities,other illegal serbian base stations of the Serbian mobile operators have been disabled. Operators of unlicensed mobile phone ave been a big problem for potential investors. Kosovo will open the tender for privatization of PTK by June and will announce the winner in August or September.

Commenting on Prishtina’s moves to disable all Serbian mobile phone operators in Kosovo, Kouchner said “mobile phones are working as far as I know. No one is prevented from talking, they just need to pick a network.”

PRISTINA, Kosovo, April 23 (UPI) -- Tobacco and alcohol smuggling by 16 Romanian police officers terminated their work in a European Union mission in Kosovo, officials said.
A bus carrying the officers was stopped in Macedonia Tuesday night while en route from Kosovo to Romania, BalkanInsight.com reported.
Authorities found 314 cartons of cigarettes stashed in the vehicle's trunk along with 35 gallons of whiskey, cognac, tequila and vodka, the report said.
The police officers were part of a law enforcement team in the breakaway Serbian province of Kosovo run by a European Union operation known as EULEX.
Under pressure from Brussels, 16 Romanian officers will no longer work for EULEX, the EU rule of law mission in Kosovo.
The head of the EULEX mission, Yves de Kermabon, said that he will not resign over the behavior of some individuals.
