Serbia cell phone network closed in Kosova

PRISTINA, Kosovo (AP) - Kosovo's government shut down a Serbian cell phone network inside Kosovo on Friday, calling it "unlicensed and illegal."
Kosovo's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority said its workers acted under the protection of Kosovo police because the provider, Serbia's Telekom, is not registered with Kosovo authorities and "will not be tolerated."...

Despite the protests of Serbian authorities,other illegal serbian base stations of the Serbian mobile operators have been disabled. Operators of unlicensed mobile phone ave been a big problem for potential investors. Kosovo will open the tender for privatization of PTK by June and will announce the winner in August or September.

Commenting on Prishtina’s moves to disable all Serbian mobile phone operators in Kosovo, Kouchner said “mobile phones are working as far as I know. No one is prevented from talking, they just need to pick a network.”
